From student to rapper, to stage performer, Brandon Nivens started rapping for the chance to pursue a unique image when compared to other students.  “I always used rapping as an outlet for myself and when I started making music and saw the impact it had not only on me but on other people it sparked something in me that told me to never stop.”  After 3 years of rapping and keeping his talent to himself, he finally put out his very first mixtape “Scribbles & Scriptures”. Shortly after that in November of 2014, he put out his very first album “Loose Ties” featuring his fellow artist Nick Norton on the title track. Since the release of “Loose Ties,” he has put out 2 more mixtapes online and has been working and dedicating his time towards a second full-length album.

Nivens; known by his fans as B-Dogg, was the very first rapper from CK. This was a big step in the young artist’s career because it was “extremely legit” said Junior Chris Hunter, “having an everyday CK student come out with his own CD is something unheard of around here and is really inspiring.” He managed to sell around 50 copies handing each of them out himself to his buyers.

“Rapping isn’t easy at times because of all the factors going into it like writer’s block, lack of time, emotions, mental and physical health.” said Brandon “but for some reason, I’ve been able to push through no matter what. When my best friend Bailey Kallio committed suicide in August of 2015 I realized just how short life really was, so I told myself I could never not do what I love. So I’ve dedicated all my time to making music and proving myself.”

Nivens has gone through some of life’s hardest problems and managed to pull through via rapping and with the support of his friends.  He hopes to continue his rap career and put out new songs as soon as possible for his fans to enjoy.  Every day he gains more followers, Soundcloud plays, and song shares and in the future he hopes to have over 200 SoundCloud followers.  He is currently at 74 followers so he is just under halfway, however he will keep on pushing.
