Rafael Gibson, known by his fans as RafTheAsianKid has exploded his rap career at CKHS over the past few years.  Raf started writing his own music at the age of 13 ever since his Language Arts class started doing poetry.  He says he got really into it and knew it would be super fun to put that poetry onto a beat to rap about.  “I thought it would be something that made me fit in with all of the cool kids in my grade but that unfortunatey didn’t turn out as I planned.” says Gibson.  He started tuning into certain rappers music such as B.O.B. and Childish Gambino and thought their styles were unique and fun.

Nowadays Gibson makes his music based off of real life events such as a person he doesn’t like or as he said “I sometimes write about a girl I’m trying to hit on that has a boyfriend when we all really know I got a better chance on stealing his girlfriend.”  He started recording music when he was 15.  He is very humble about what he does and doesn’t record in cool studios instead he records in his closet that is packed with a bunch of pillows and blankets for better sound.  Future plans for Raf include making a whole mixtape with other CKHS rapper, Brandon Nivens, stage name; B-Dogg.  He plans on making more music with close friend Nicolas Stimac and hopefully appear on a song with Nick Norton and Andy Knudsen (CKHS graduate rapper).  He also looks forward to playing a couple shows for a crowd up on stage.

“It has always been my dream to perform in front of all my fans and is something I strongly look forward too” said the young rapper. Luckyily for him he has already gotten a bit of that “on-stage” experience considering he has rocked the “CK’s Got Talent” talent show TWO years in a row. School is ending soon and over the summer Gibson plans on putting out a bunch of new music for all his friends, fans, and family to enjoy!
