CK has a Spring Festival for their Theater Arts program, an event where students produce their own one act plays. The four plays that were performed were “How To Succeed in High School Without Really Trying” by Jonathan Rand,  directed by Emma Gutierrez; “Lot 667” written and directed by Mission Reed, “Shaky” written and directed by Max Pantano, and “The Brother’s Grimm Speculation” written by Christian Lynch.

Students that are involved in theater seem to have passion for what they do. “I decided  to join theater because I have a lot of friends that were doing it, and I thought it’d be fun to join. I also took a previous theater arts class,” explained junior Marshall McCord.

Sophomore Christian Lynch is a student in theater and also wrote “The Brothers Grimm Speculation.” He participated in theater during junior high and then when he entered high school, he thought it’d be fun to join theater again. “Joining theater was probably one of the best decisions  of my life because I’ve been truly amazed theater has changed me. It’s helped me get new friends, and lets me be someone that I’m not for a while, and lets me escape.”

Sophomore Mission Reed said Spring Fest is “a bunch of lazy teenagers who created the best show I’ve ever seen. I’m pretty biased.” Reed has been into theater arts since he was about six years old and has been in every single CK production since his Freshman year. He is very passionate and dedicated to what he does in theater and enjoys how other people work hard for the art. He said the best part is “the fact that I can be myself. It’s not about what you’re doing, it’s about the people you’re doing it with. Being able to create something from nothing and watching people put passion into what they do.”

CK has a fun theater arts program and students enjoy participating in the class.  Spring Fest turned out great and the plays were stupendous. “I enjoyed Spring Fest because I got to be in Mission’s play and that was a great play,” said Marshall McCord.
