The journalism class has been working hard this year to make a good school paper for readers in the community. As the school year comes to a close, seniors like to reflect on achievements they’ve made, and who they’ve become as people.

Trieste Cogar is an editor for the cougar chronicle. She grades the articles written by her peers and gives them her OK for publication. She enjoyed the healthy and fun environment of the class, and her favorite article that she wrote was her profile on Ezra Grey. She says her high school experience was a whirlwind. “Everything happened very quickly and it’s hard to recall exactly when I grew up but I can tell that I’m not the same person as I was when I first walked through these doors.” She rates the Journalism class a 9/10.

Evelyn Hokanson is a computer repair person, and she says that going through high school was an extreme amount of stress. She says that the journalism class was entertaining, and a new experience for her.

Fiona Hodges is one of the reporters in the class. She says her favorite memory and her favorite article was the one she wrote about the production of ‘Murder at Cafe Noir.’ She regrets not getting her work done on time.

Julian Dorsey is a reporter, and also an editor for the new literary magazine that Mrs. Miller and other journalism students published on June 4 2018. He has worked on multiple articles, including “What it means to be a Pilot,” and “The Definition Of Students.”

Emily Livengood brought back the literary magazine this year for CKHS. She is a passionate writer for the Cougar Chronicle, and it’s apparent in all of her work. Her amazingly written articles and her exemplary effort to publish the Reveries website make her an admirable student and an amazing asset to the journalism team.

GiaAngelina Acosta is another editor for the Cougar Chronicle. She’s a talented musician, and played at the Moore Theatre on March 15. She played an original song called Heartbroken (See more information in Megan Greens article More Music at the Moore!).She plans to move forward with her music career, and has done some fantastic work for the journalism team.

Damien Saldana is in the journalism class, and is also in the West Sound Tech welding program. He loves to work out, and try to make others happy. He spends his spare time in class, when he’s not hard at work, moving the toy dinosaurs that are hidden around the classroom.

Wilson Zapata is a reporter who diligently works on his articles. In his spare time he helps confuse Mrs. Miller by hiding the dinosaurs around the classroom. He has written articles about the cougar den, and the effects of social media.

Ian Schweiger is a hard working writer, and a very social individual. His favorite memory from the class was “the weird arguments everyone had at the beginning of the year.” He loved writing his article about PDA in school, and he regrets not being more active at the start of the semester.

Collin Smith is an important asset to the journalism team. He enjoys talking with friends, and helping to brainstorm ideas for titles of articles. He wrote a series of articles “For dummies,” each one more fun and/or informative than the last.
