Evolution of thrillers to HD spine chillers
In society horror movies have changed a lot from the props and the acting of the 1920’s to the HD quality and CGI we know today to make everything way more horrifying.
Horror movies have been around for a long time since the early 20th century to the present day and it’s amazing that people have kept on making and having new ideas for horror movies. It’s interesting when you think: why do these screenwriters and producers make horror movies? Why do they like horror movies and why do so many people enjoy horror movies?
The evolution of these movies started from the early 20th century during the industrial revolution so many things were changing the world automobiles, new weapons of war, & movies were being made.
Horror movies started out with the most simple and iconic characters from fictional characters such as Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, zombies, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon to non-fictional characters such as mummies, norman bates, & jack the ripper. George Mellies was an American film maker in the mid 1890’s and his movie “Lu manior du Diable” is considered the first ever horror movie. As time went on the technology got better where people could actually see colors on the big screen and have better effects with advancements in CGI and practical effects.
Horror movies never actually got popular until the 1920’s and that’s because the film industry got better equipment in the 1920’s and it sparked a whole new generation we know today. After the of the 1920’s horror movies the franchise died down until the mid 1960’s where 40 years later everything came back with the movies such as “The Birds” and “Psycho” and those lead onto the 1970’s and 1980’s where horror caught the attention of the public. The 1970’s gave us some of the most iconic characters we know today in not only in horror but in sci-fi as well as movies like “Halloween,” “Carrie,” “Alien” and “The Exorcist.”
Horror movies have changed the world for the better and they have made people interested in them but even till this day we still cant understand why people like horror movies.
