Over the last couple months  there has been an increasing amount of students that are getting tattoos. A poll was conducted to find out what the student body thinks of of these tattoos. To my surprise there were 117 out of 150 people that think having a tattoo in high school

 is a good idea. The main attitude behind the liking of tattoos is that many students feel that it is a way to express themselves in the form of unique body art. Quen believes that tattoos are good for expressing personality to other people around him.  

“Tattoos have not affected me in any way that is really positive or negative,” said senior Anthony Quen. Quen has had his tattoo for over a year now and he has expressed that he has no regret of his tattoo and it presents no problems in his life.

“students should not get tattoos because they will change over time and the symbol they get may lose meaning over time,” said english teacher Kate Zinke. Zinke makes it a point that getting tattoos this young could be up for regret because people change a lot over the course of their lives. Zinke has made her warnings known to the students that pass through her class of possible regrets of tattoos at a young age.

There were 15 staff members that were asked the same question from the first poll. Of those 15 staff members, 14 of them thought that getting a tattoo in highschool is a bad idea but yet 78% of the student body agreed that it was a good idea. These statistics express that most adults want high school kids to wait with tattoos to see if it is something they really need. They want the students to think about what they get because people can drastically change over a few years.

The overall student body at CK thinks that tattoos are a good idea but the staff that were interviewed and included in the poll thought that tattoos for students is a bad idea that they could regret later in life.
