Central Kitsap Robotics Team

The robotics team shared between three schools.

At Central Kitsap High school there are various clubs along with our sports teams, one of their clubs is the Robotics club that is composed of three different schools.

It is one of the most overlooked clubs at CK, The club this year is being held at Olympic High School; this club provides a great opportunity to those who are interested in stem or stem related activities that may help them figure out what they want to do in the future.

As well as getting students interested in stem courses they also participate in competitions in which they use the robot that they start working on at the beginning of the season, their currently finishing the robot J4NK that they started in 2020 but had to put a hold on due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the pandemic it has been hard to start up gain and try and get people interested to join the robotics team; currently the team is at seven members.

One of these members is Christoper Lee who is the current co-captain of the team and a senior at Central Kitsap High School. He joined because he thought it would be fun and a good experience to try and be more social, he also personally thinks that school focuses more on physical sports and clubs rather than the academic ones like the robotics club; when it comes to fundraisers and support the ASB is currently the biggest supporter for the robotics club.

ROCK has been the leader in safety for almost every competition, 2018 went to worlds and won the safety award and hope to win many more awards and make sure they provide enough water for them in the next competition.

One thing Chris hopes to see is “wanting more gender diversity, and thinks there should be more women in the stem field”, At this current time there are only boys within the club and wish to see more girls be interested in steam and maybe pursue a four year education in it.

He hopes that there will be more promotion of the robotics team within the school and hope that people join.
