Knowledge Bowl is a competition where teams compete regionally, state, nationally and even internationally in a jeopardy-like game, except they do not answer in the form of questions; testing student’s leadership, sportsmanship, and confidence together.
The competition consists of questions concerning the whole team’s knowledge. Varying from academics, culture, news, logic, and so much more. Meeting on Fridays in room 3402, Mrs. Kallie Szczepanski’s room. The club practices with each other and prepares for upcoming contests and events.
“There are 3 different teams. Usually 4 or 5 people each,” said Frank Pizatani. “The person in the middle is the team captain and answers questions. Anyone can hit their team’s answer bar and once the bar is hit you have 15 seconds to get the answer right.”
But if you don’t think you are cut up for the club. “You don’t have to know everything, every question is different, so the more people there are the more likely someone will have the answer,” Frank added. “It’s always lots of fun and we have laughs at all the bizarre questions and answers. It’s a great way to unwind at the end of the school week.”
The club is quite consistent and continues to show good results. “Every year we have made it to state,” Mrs. Szczepanski, the advisor of the club said, the club having placed 3rd at state in 2022, CKHS’s best showing since 2012.
The club’s meetings and members help build upon each other, creating a huge hotpot of brilliant minds, mixture of laughter, and deafening silence while waiting for a question that tends to leave a good taste with anyone who participates.
The Knowledge Bowl club has done great things, and continues to do great things, and each club member only helps it achieve its goal.
