Homecoming coronation is next Friday October 6 and during the Homecoming game right after the Excellent Eight and the two CK Sovereigns are crowned. Last year the ballots for Homecoming said to nominate three girls and three boys.  Kacey Morris will still be crowning, but she won’t be crowning the next Queen she’ll be crowning the first Sovereign.

Mrs. Staker says “I got a number of ballots I read everyone of them, because its supposed to be top secret, that said I don’t fit in here or I can’t vote for my friend they don’t fit in this.”

The topic of changing the coronation happened last year right after homecoming since it was gender binary.

“We decided it was time to modernize homecoming court. We love the tradition, but it didn’t fit with today’s teen.” Mrs. Staker states.

The new system of coronation is unifying students so no one feels left out and it feels more like a community. The way they came up with Royal family is that they didn’t want to have levels of people they wanted everyone to be equals, so it doesn’t feel like a popularity contest but more like a family in that we’re trying to help each other.
