What is the Enviro Club?
How to get Involved in the club
Oct. 3, 2017
Our school has many different clubs and opportunities for students, like the Enviro Club. The Enviro Club is here to help the environment and to make people more aware of the environment and how to help keep it clean. The Enviro Club has been an active club here at CK for five years and it is still going strong. The club is always trying to make the school more Environmentally friendly. Some of the goals for the club this year are to get the school to start recycling more plastics. “We’re trying to work on a project to make the cafeteria more sustainable, to not use plastics as much and recycle more plastics,” explains Hope Clarke, Co-President of the Enviro Club.
The Enviro Club does many things to help out the school and our community. “The Enviro Club does all of the recycling in the building, cuts down on the waste that this building puts out to landfills,” Bill Wilson, teacher of Environmental
Science, describes some of the things that the club does to help.“The club also operates the Silverdale Community Garden that raises food for the food bank.”
“I became a part of the club because I was really interested in Enviro sciences and how we take part in the community to help the Environment,” Hannah Ordonez, explains as to why she joined the club. The club is open for anyone to join, even if you are not in any Environmental science classes! The meetings are short and are held every other Tuesday in Mr. Wilson’s classroom after school.
