Guitar Heroes
Central Kitsap Duo Shreds the Guitar
Oct 17. 2017
In today’s day and age, music taste has evolved, leaving Rock and Roll slightly underrated by today’s youth. Genres like Rap and Pop are more frequently played, with not a lot of heavy rock like Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath being recognized. This does not hold true however for Central Kitsap High School Juniors Zachary Green and Matyas Kisiday, who not only enjoy this music, but perform them.
“It’s nice to have friend who has the same musical aspirations as me” Kisiday explained, speaking about his relationship with peer Green. Kisiday owns 6 guitars and has been playing for roughly 4 years now.
“Jimmy Paige initially inspired me to play” Kisiday explained. He enjoyed the sound, and was eager to make one of his own.
Good friend Green shares the same passion, “I taught myself how to play, and now I can’t stop.” Green yearns for a bluesy sound, “Stevie Ray Vaughan is my favorite guitarist, an incomparable sound really.”
This duo loves to collaborate, and get together at least a couple times a week to see what the other is working on. “We come together and make the other better, whether it’s competing to see who can rip the best solo or arguing over our favorite guitarist” Kisiday spoke.
Watch out for this pair, their passion for rock is not dying and their musical futures are bright.
