The Coding Club Basics

Coding Club is an after school programming club held in the auto shop, class 242A. Alex Booth, who teaches Computer Science, Robotics, Applied Math, is also the head adviser for the club.

“I feel like computer programming is really important,” said Booth, “I want my students to leave my class knowing how to program and understand the basics of all the software that’s running their life.”

Booth wants to let students know coding club is “a place for people who want to learn about code or about computers and that anyone is welcome.”

Central Kitsap has had up to 82 championships for Skills USA, a program which rewards students in those classes excel in their field of skill, such as programming, animation, designs, and so on.

CKHS has bad championships for Web Design, Computer Programming, Additive Manufacturing and many various skills in Skills USA. CKHS seniors of 2017, Samantha Miller, who won second place and Alex Johnson, who won first, competed in Skills USA in March. CKHS competes at Skills USA every year, letting students show their technological education.
