Cheerleading is often not thought as a tough sport but there is actually a lot that goes into it! Cheerleader Hailey Junt describes how Cheerleading is one of the sports that is both mentally and physically exhausting. There is often a lot of training and practicing going on when the team is practicing together and even when they are alone.

Our Central Kitsap High School Cheerleaders practice 2 to 4 days a week for about 2 hours. Being a part of any team can sometimes consume part of your life but it usually only lasts a couple months but Cheerleading is a lot of time a full-time job. The season starts in late Spring and ends in January which is around 9 of months out of the year.

“You have to be a role model, you can not do things that you wouldn’t want other people to do,” a cheerleader Hunter Garchow, explains what you have to do to be a cheerleader. Garchow also describes what it’s like to be a team, “[It] is being able to work with everybody and not single yourself out, cause like everybody should be able to work together that’s what makes whatever you’re doing work.”

“It means to support each other, push each other to be the best you can be,” Coach Jaymie Ford describes what a team is. Coach Ford also describes how the Cheerleaders all want to be achieve excellence as athletes and that they put a lot of pride in their team. Being a part of a team becomes a very important thing to many people, your team becomes another family to you.
