The Bowling Team Strikes Again
The CKHS Girl’s Bowling Team Is Ready For The New Season
At CKHS, sports are a large part of the culture of the school. One of these sports is the Girl’s Bowling Team. There are twelves members, from all grades, and they are wonderful. Coach Melissa Clewis is proud of her team, even though it is her first year coaching them. She plans on being their coach for a very long time, as long as the school allows!
“I couldn’t ask for better teammates,” Julianna Sontgerath, sophomore, said. She has only been bowling for a month, and she loves it.
“I haven’t had any problems,” Clewis mused. She wants to work on certain aspects of the bowling itself. She still believes in her team, not only sports wise, but as people. Many members feel the same, none of them stating they wished for any changes to the team as it is.
“It’s just fun,” Meghan Dunn, senior, said. She has earned a scholarship through her participation on the team.
Confidence building is another facet of the team. After a while, the player’s self doubts fade away. They believe they can do wonderful things, and they can!
Like any other activity, the team has an issue. This issue is lack of attention. People are always willing to go to football or basketball games, but they will never give a second glance to any of the other, less popular, sports.
That does not stop the team from being fantastic. They rock the lanes no matter what happens.
The bowling team has simple goals for the future.
“Tell everyone else to bowl next year,” Clewis laughed. Even though the team has twelve members, more would always be welcomed. She also hopes that the team would be able to make it to state this year. There are many seniors on the team and it would be a fantastic sendoff for all of them. The overall aim of the team however is to just have fun!
The next time you hear an announcement talking about bowling, don’t be afraid to stop by All Star Lanes and cheer the girls on.
