For the 2017 Central Kitsap High School girl’s basketball season, the varsity squad is looking pretty solid. The seniors playing this year are Vanessa Davies, Olivia Krog, Melina Polzin, Ilasa Sousou, Patricia Faletoi, and Ready Lanki-Nimoto and are coached by Kerri Collette. The starting varsity this year is Vanessa Davies, Olivia Krog, Jailynn Taylor, Alex Neumann, and Pono Fuiava.
The team’s goal for this year are to make it to the post-season because last year they got eliminated right before making it into the post-season. What most of the team is looking forward to this year is seeing how the team grows and see how the team gets along together.
“I’m looking forward to learning more about basketball and creating a bond with everyone,” said senior Melina Polzin.
After high school, some players are debating whether or not to play basketball in college. Some players on the team have been playing all through high school and have been on varsity for a few years already so they might get scouted throughout the season. However some of the players play other sports so they would have to pick between which sports they play to play during college.
“As of right now I’d like to play basketball in college but i dont know if that’s what I’m going to do yet. I also want to javelin in college so i don’t really know where I’m going to do next year or what I’m going to do,” said senior Olivia Krog.
The next game for the girls is on Tuesday, November 28th at home against Bremerton at 7:00.
