In high school, you take classes to be able to attain credits to graduate. The most common classes or credits that are required to graduate are your core classes. The primary core classes are English, Math, Science, and other academic classes And some people take Journalism for an English credit. Journalism is a class you take as a junior or senior in high school. It is a class that students make articles about the school that are newsworthy.

Ian Schweiger said “Journalism is a hard class and very time consuming with a lot of work to do.” Ian also said that this is one of the only classes that he really struggles with.

Wilson Zapata said “A lot of Journalism is gathering and recovering information and putting it on paper.” Katherine Miller, an English teacher teaching at Central Kitsap High School, pushes her students to their full potential. She really want her students to be successful in her class.

The Central Kitsap High school requires students to receive English credits to graduate in four years. That means you have to take four years of English every year. If you fail a class in high school, you’ll have to make up the class by taking summer school or an online class.

Kameron Axe said “English is one of my classes that i usually don’t have trouble in.” he also mention that it is one of his strongest suits in high school.

Tristen Mcwhite, a senior at Central Kitsap high School, took journalism as a class because he needs an English credit. Others like Cy Johnson, a freshman in high school, took the class because he heard that it was fun. Currently, he is constantly in class doing work and always trying to get it done.

The High School makes taking an English class a requirement because of its important role that it plays as a student grows up. It’ll help the student with reading and writing. Also, it helps them with comprehensive reading and understand the information they are obtaining. You need literature for everything you do in life. An English class and Journalism in high school is just a small component to the bigger picture of life.
