Throughout your life there will always be someone you look up to. Whether it be your parents or the president there is always someone. One person people can look up to is an Olympic College Running Start student named Dylan Erickson. He is an eighteen year old student with two jobs, plays multiple sports ,as well as keeps his grades up and his life focused on what’s important.

Now some will say college and all those activities may be hard to deal with but Dylan says “College has become more and more difficult over time however as long as you keep up with your work the difficulty stays the same. But managing sports and jobs with it as well has provided to be more of a challenge because i have to work around my schedule to provide myself the time to work for school. ” A big reason he’s able to keep up with the large work load is due to his time management. He schedules when to do what and for how long. This makes his schedule an easier to keep up with routine for the student. Learning Works for kids says “Time Management is the thinking skill that helps children to prioritize tasks and accurately judge the amount of time needed to complete them. It helps them complete activities in a timely fashion, and learn to manage and stick to a schedule.” So time management is a large part of all students lives.

For those around him they may have a different perspective on dylan. His little sister Alyssa Erickson stated that “Dylan is someone you can always count on even if he’s not expected to do something he will try to find a way to help. He is also someone that is very dependable because if he says something he will certainly get it done.” this shows a first hand view on those who have grown up with Dylan and watched his success. However family may have a biased opinion.

For a true view on Dylan I asked a close friend of his Dominic to give a few words on dylans life style and how he continuously achieves his goals. Dominic said “ He surprises me when i see him working hard I know that’s who he is but when he is in a group of friends he just seems like a normal kid back with his friends and he’s very relaxed and up-beat and its because he keeps track of what he has to do so he can make time to hangout with his friends and not stress about other work he has.” The two have been friends for multiple years and have a close relationship. If anyone can vouch for the encouraging and inspiring young man it would be him.
