The beginning of Holiday Break is this week! It is the season for giving and being thankful, spending time with family and friends, and making the last moments of the year memorable.

Some families have holiday traditions like Elf on the Shelf, camping out underneath the tree, helping the homeless, or making graham cracker houses. I asked a student here what their families traditions were for the holiday season and she said, “Every year on Christmas Eve we open one present and then on Christmas day after opening presents and eating breakfast we take our dog for a walk on Clear Creek trail with the whole family”. When i asked her what three words she would use to describe this season she said, “Friends, Family, and Joy”.

Winter Break is a little bit more than two weeks. Ashlyn Anderson, junior, said that her favorite part of winter break is, “Having a break from school and stress and just spending quality time with my friends and family”. The Anderson family opens one present on Christmas Eve every year, it is their pajamas so they can wear them all together on Christmas Day. “It is the most family-oriented time of the year, it makes me very happy when all my siblings come home from college” says Anderson. She is very excited for next week when all her family will be together again.
