iPhone X, released in 2017

In every year, there are things that become extremely popular that remain popular for at least a few years after that. There are also trends that we all know for one year specifically. Some of the trends in 2017 will be remembered only in 2017, but there are some that managed to live past New Years Day.

The iPhone vs. Samsung Galaxy fight continued this past year, with Apple coming out with the new iPhone 8 being released in September, and iPhone X in November. The release of the new iPhone X was surprising, seeing more people buy the iPhone 8, which resulted in Apple stocks falling. The iPhone X camera was rated second compared to Google’s Pixel 2, and was rated by Consumer Reports overall as worse than the iPhone 8. They also rated it beneath Samsung’s Galaxy S8, S8+ and the Note 8 because the X is less durable and has less battery life.

Hit movies came out in 2017, including “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Wonder Woman”. The long awaited first part of the remake of “IT” came out as well.

The Nintendo Switch was released this year, surprising most stock market experts with its success after the failure of the previous Wii U console. In an interview with Fils-Aime, he says a key element in marketing was being “crystal clear in our communication of what the product was and what it could do”, after people mistook the Wii U game pad as an accessory to the already released Wii console.

The Duffer Brothers hit series on Netflix, “Stranger Things”

“Stranger Things” season two came out last year, adding in the second chapter to the Duffer brothers hit series on Netflix. “Iron Fist” and “Riverdale” also released their first episodes last year.
