The YSBP (Youth Suicide Bullying Prevention) is a club that aims to raise awareness of bullying and be a resource for those who are experiencing it. The YSBP has a variety of ways to reach out to students such as events, attire, and events. The presentations are an upcoming event for the YSBP and are set to take place sometime in the Spring. The club meets right after school on Mondays in the library. All are welcome.

The presentations are set to cover a wide range of material regarding bullying and suicide. Aina Zabinski, a long time member of the club, explained that, “Throughout the presentation we are presenting the basic idea of what [is suicide and bullying] and how do you know when something is happening and we share stories and some videos that relate to [bullying].”

Specific signs of a suicidal individual will be discussed such as written warnings from the troubled as well as behavioral. Zabinski also noted that the presentation will go over, “the impacts that it has on the person being bullied and the people around them.” This was later confirmed to correlate with the idea of suicide clusters which is defined as, according to sprc.org, a multitude of suicidal behaviors that fall within a specific time frame or geographic area which happens as a result of a tragic event that occurs to a community.

The employment of clubs like YSBP are a source of support for many teens struggling with suicide. Especially for states such as Wyoming which according to the CDC, has the highest rates of suicide in the United States.

There are many ways to assist with these troubled youth. Various suicide hotlines are set in place to help as well as programs like the YSBP.
