First base, second base, shortstop, third base, left fielder, center fielder. If you haven’t guessed already, fast pitch is in season. The fast pitch team has yet to appoint team captains but the fast pitch team is coached by the main coach Courtney Cotter and coaches.

“The team is great, everyone is really friendly and we all work together well,” said one of the players.  Like all sports, the fast pitch team is looking forward to playing together and creating bonds with each other. The team is very tight knit, many of the teammates describe it as a little family. Everyone is very excited to play and work on getting better together as a team.

Freshman Madison Chitwood has been playing fast pitch for six years. Chitwood plays the third, pitcher and catcher position. Her favorite part about playing fast pitch is “the pressure when you get to steal bases and getting into the catcher’s head,” and she’s decided to try out this year because “the sport has helped me a lot, it helps me focus and be healthier,”.

“We just want to have fun playing with one another but it would be great to make it to districts,” said one of the players. The goal for this year’s team is to play hard and to win their games, but their main goal is to have fun playing the sport they all love. The fast pitch team hopes that they can make it to districts and put their year on the banner.

Freshman Kenna Kuligowski has been playing on the fast pitch field for about ten years, her love of the game started when she was five and signed up to play t-ball. Kuligowski plays shortstop and second but when needed she’s ready to play outfield. Her favorite part about playing with her team is “bonding with other girls and learning how to cooperate with them,”.

The fast pitch team is excited to start the new season this year. Their first game is against the Kingston Buccaneers, cheer them on at Linder Field on Thursday, March 15 at four.
