Graduating Early
Is it worth it?
March 20, 2018
Graduation is one of the biggest things that high school students look forward to their whole high school career. But what if it is was a possibility to graduate early? Well, for a small percentage of students it is, but it can be a very challenging and mentally draining thing to do.
If you are looking to graduate early there are two options to choose from, depending on the number of credits you already have. Students can graduate either a semester or a whole year early. Both require a lot of work and commitment. Most students who are graduating early have to take on extra courses which ends up resulting in less time for you to do after-school activities, sports, or even hanging out with your friends. On the bright side, you are able to get out of school early and have a head start in the real world.
Being able to graduate early is not something that many people get to say they did, because it is very difficult! Many students think that they already have a huge load, but when you are graduating early you will have about two times the amount of work you used to have. And if you end up procrastinating until the very end, it will be extremely difficult for you to complete all of your classes with passing grades. Students who are able to graduate early have to take on a huge load and if they procrastinate a lot, they have to be prepared that they may not be able to finish early. Some definitely manage it, though it is scary at times and you will be completely exhausted by the end.
Everything with graduating early depends on you being fully committed and being able to take on everything that’ll be thrown at you. Especially in April and May because this is when everything is starting to wrap up and you need to have all of your extra online classes completed.
Graduating early is a privilege that not many students get to have. It is very hard to get to the point of being able to graduate early. When you graduate early, you can either skip the first half of your senior year or you can even skip the whole year. Being able to graduate early really depends on the amount of credits you have and need to get and being able to commit to your work (and getting it all done in time). Commitment is seriously the most important part of graduating early. But if you think you can handle it, go for it! It will definitely be worth all of the work!
If this is something that you are interested in doing, go and see your counselor! They will have all of the information for about this!
