Mini Art Gala
An amazing display of art expression.
May 7, 2018— Mrs. Adams first period AP Studio Art class displayed their work in a Mini Art Gala in the library on May 3, 2018. The students were asked to choose their five best art pieces to show to guests. There were many different forms of art expression; paintings, drawings, collages, pottery, photography. It was quite a sight to see.
The Art Gala started at 6 p.m. and went to 7:30 p.m. Many friends and family showed up to see the students accomplishments. Mrs. Adams said that it was a success and that she would love to display everyone’s work one more time before it gets shipped off for the AP test. Adams would also love to have other students participate in any upcoming art shows. The students in the AP Studio Art class send in their art portfolios on May 11, 2018. The test scores are released during mid-July.
Christina Calma is in AP Studio Art for pottery, she is currently finishing up her portfolio for submission next week. She is submitting this year and next year. Art class is one of her favorite classes here at CK and she enjoyed the Mini Art Gala a lot. Calma expressed, “The art show was an amazing experience. I not only got to see my art displayed but also my peers and observe the diverse talents of CK”. This is Mrs. Adams second year at Central Kitsap High School and she has made big improvements to the art department. She is changing the perspectives of students minds on art. Calma also stated, “I am able to freely express myself and not only create art that captures forms of life but also myself. It can depict when I am mad, happy, or just content with life”. Stay tuned for any upcoming art events, they are incredible to see.
