The oldest swimming stroke is Breaststroke, which is also the slowest stroke swum at the Olympics.

Central Kitsap High School was built in 1924 and has many sporting events and extra curriculars. Competitive swim is offered at Central Kitsap High School. We have boys and girls swim but there is one catch. Central Kitsap High School doesn’t have a pool. So, Central Kitsap have to commute over to Olympic High School up near the Fairgrounds.
CK shares a pool with not only students at Olympic but students that also attend Klahowya High School. Central Kitsap Boys swim team is coached by coach Whitney and Coach Patrick. Whitney and Patrick also did swim when they were in high school Whitney use to be a lifeguard at the Silverdale YMCA. this year of 2017-2018, we had 18 people on the boys swim team.
The first competitive swim meet was held in England in 1830. In 1986, competitive swimming made its way to the Olympics. The two events that were introduced in the Olympic games were freestyle and breaststroke. The backstroke was added in 1904.
Logan Jacobson, a senior at Central Kitsap High School and co-captain of the boys swim team, said “I enjoy swim and love to swim even when i’m not competing. I wish more students at Central Kitsap Joined because it’s a fun sport and gets you into shape.”
Logan became team co-captain for the boys swim team by a vote, the year before by teammates of the previous year. The other co-captain on the team is Cameron Stimac also another year at Central Kitsap High School.
Marty Duque, a senior at Central Kitsap High School and also plays soccer for the school, said “swim is a hard sport to get use to. When i joined, it was a different atmosphere and a lot to learn. I got the hang of it because of all the support i got from my teammates.”
