The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials Book Review

The sequel in the Maze Runner trilogy
The Maze Runner, 2009’s phenomenal book, tells an action packed theme about a violent and complicated maze. In a community of about 50 boys, two new people arrive, Thomas and Teresa, they all had their memories erased and none of them remember anything but their name. They are surrounded by a large maze, no way to get out unless they enter. Each day a few of them run out into the maze, trying to find an answer, but all they find is new turns, deadly creatures, and no way out. They were sent to run trials for the World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department, WICKED for short. All to find the cure for the Flare, an infectious disease. Teresa was sent with messages, “everything is about to change,” and “WICKED is good,” and with that, everything that could go wrong, occurs and Thomas is their only hope.
In this 2010 science fiction novel, The Scorch Trials, the gladers are out, into the open. They will soon face new challenges, surroundings, enemies and alliances. The setting in this novel is fast paced and deserted, gruesome, and more unexpected than The Maze Runner. Now they have to face a bigger situation. Another trial. The world which once was green, is burned into a deserted, and infected wasteland. The people infected by the Flare, called Cranks, are burned, and initiate into a murderous and crazed mindset.
New York Times best selling author, James Dashner, has created many books for teenagers and young adults. Similar to Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games, his best selling series, The Maze Runner trilogy, has set off. Four years after the last book, The Kill Order, he launched a new book following the trilogy, called The Fever Code. In this book, all the answers would be shown. It is not part of the trilogy, but after leaving the readers confused and upset, he sent out the answers going on in his mind.
Out of the maze and into the department of WICKED, the boys and Teresa are introduced to new allies, Brenda and Aris. Together, they try to find a way throughout the Scorch, out of the trials and try to find the Right Hand, a group of crisis fighters who can help defeat WICKED and their schemes. The Scorch was generated by Sun Flares, which was an apocalyptic occurrence that happened about a decade and a half before The Maze Runner. The Flares settled between the Tropics, Cancer and Capricorn, creating the desert called The Scorch. WICKED was always following the various groups they had compiled, they were put to extremes and were used to “save the world,” but that doesn’t mean WICKED is good.
They have selected up to 100 immune and non-immune subjects to be examined and experimented on to find why they were able to repel the Flare. Ava Paige has stated that a few deaths are needed, but will not repeat the Trials to keep the immune population. Their goal was to save the world and find a cure, which the succeeded and failed, by sending the immunes to a secure place where they could restart civilization but failing for find a cure.
The movie adaptions were in production starting in 2014, 2015, and late 2017 and early 2018. People say the books are better than the movies, some say the movies are better than the books, everyone has their own opinions. But personally, you’d have to read the books and watch the movies to find out for yourself which is better.
