Kitsap Travel Guide
A common problem between a lot of people, especially students, is looking for something to do on a seemingly boring weekend. However, there are an immense amount of places that are seen by few, and it is time to showcase these places in hopes of solving the “There’s nothing to do” problem.
The first location on the list is Haven Lake, located in Tahuya, WA. Haven lake is (no pun intended) a haven of kind people and tons of places to explore, or cool off in the water. Here you can boat, fish, swim, and all around have a good time. All of my experiences at Haven Lake have been full of great memories, and my friends and I love to come here to forget about the stresses of life.
When asked about her times at Haven, Junior Jenai Jenkins had this to say: “Going to Haven Lake was an experience. I went for the Fourth of July with some of my closest friends. We spent a week swimming in the lake, sitting around the fire, paddle boarding, playing card games in the trailer or hide and seek in the dark, and making trips into town for snack runs. Everyday was a new adventure at Haven. The area was so beautiful and relaxing. Definitely one of my favorite campsites and memories.”
The next location on the must-see list is a waterfall located in Chico, WA. With a scenic trail that leads you to a captivating waterfall, with a small pool at the base for swimming and sightseeing. It is also a great place to walk your dogs or go for a jog.
Peyton Hume, a student at CK, is one of the few people I know who has been to the waterfall, and she described her experience as: “My time at the Chico Waterfall was amazing. It’s a great hike, about 10 minutes but with the scenery it goes by quickly. It’s a perfect place to go in the summer and hang out with friends or even go for a swim.”
Anderson Landing is home to a view unlike any other in Silverdale. With a massive cliff view that extends to the Puget Sound, there are many small trails along the way to discover and explore as you make your way to the ravine.
Barker Creek student Dylan Labalan goes here often in his free time. “Anderson Landing is awesome. There is a lot of pretty views and I like to go to watch the sunset. I like to take pictures there so i go a lot. But you gotta be careful, it is easy to get lost on the trails.”
Next time you find yourself looking for somewhere new to go on the weekend, or a cool place to go with your friends, I recommend these places, as they offer a new environment to enjoy and times to make new memories that will last a lifetime. There are many different places to explore in our area, but these three are the ones anyone looking for a good time must see!
