The Weeknd dropped a new remix of his hit song, “Timeless,” with the artists Doechii and Playboi Carti. “Timeless” was definitely one of his best songs, which is why I’m glad this new drop was a remix and not the official song. However, Doechii’s touch to this music completely ruined The Weeknd’s song, and no amount of replaying it can fix how much she messed up.
Although Doechii does have some hits, “Timeless” made absolutely no sense for her to join in and rap, “Timeless” isn’t her kind of music. Her part on track did not sound right at all and her flow was millions of miles off from sounding good. When I heard her rap in the beginning, she sounded like a little kid that wasn’t rapping the song, but talking the lyrics.
While you could argue this is Doechii’s style of rapping, Playboi Carti has a mumble rap style. Mumble rap, as the name suggests, involves mumbling, being unclear, and focusing more on melody than words. But even on “Timeless,” you can understand him and his flow matches the song well, unlike Doechii who is basically talking into the mic.

On Doechii’s hit song, “Anxiety,” she has tons of vocalizing in the back to make the song more powerful, but her trying to repeat this on “Timeless” failed. Her intro sounded like she was screaming in the studio, and after her part, she started vocalizing during The Weeknd’s part. To be honest, it wasn’t that bad, it was her only good part on the track, yet I prefer the song without her. I sighed in relief knowing that she was finally going to stop rapping and the song would return to normal.
The song continued with Playboi Carti’s part, which reminded me of how amazing the original song was. Never in my life have I ever been so happy to hear Carti’s voice.
Doechii had no reason to be on “Timeless” because the song did not match her style at all, she should’ve never put herself on such an amazing track and ruin it the way she did. Even though I never liked Doechii’s song “Anxiety” at all due to it feeling like a rip off of “Somebody That I Used to Know” by Gotye. I think she should stick to her kind of music and never remix The Weeknd or go anywhere near songs like “Timeless.” Doechii may have a hidden talent, but for songs like this, she should keep it hidden.
