In their first game out of three, CKHS’s bowling team started off shaky in comparison to their opponents from Peninsula High School. Regardless of their misses, the team’s unwavering support for each other created a vibrant and energetic ambiance that kept morale high.
“[The atmosphere] is usually pretty loud and fun, and we try to keep our spirits high,” bowling member Jayden Whittington said.
By the end of the second game, CKHS was nearly caught up with Peninsula High School. Despite their admirable increase in performance, CKHS unfortunately lost with a total score of 241 to Peninsula’s 258. The team displayed impressive skill and determination throughout the match, with unwavering spirits, the team remained encouraged.
“All my teammates are really supportive of us, no matter what happens,” Whittington said.
Bowling isn’t always recognized as an electrifying sport, but CKHS’s team manages to make everyone energized and motivated. Their cheers create a livelier space, even inspiring the opposing team to imitate their chants.
“We have ‘Oh way, oh woah, that’s the way our ladies bowl.’ And then we have ‘C what? CK,’” Whittington said. “I think those are really fun — we have so many cool cheers.”
After the two matches, the teams ended the night with a Baker’s match, where each teammate bowls together in one game with combined scores. The final score that CKHS had in the Baker’s match was 172, and Peninsula High School with 106. After a satisfying score for the night, the team captain, Maya Ranada, had a few simple words for their fans.
“Come support bowling,” Ranada said.
