Senior Katia Benitz has some fantastic ambitions. Benitz is going to pursue being in the Air Force and also being a crystal geologist as her second job. “I was such a nerd when it came to the subject of Crystals,” she said. When Benitz was younger she would always try to bust open the rocks in her front yard in search of new crystals. “After opening a few rocks I became more and more fascinated by how all the rocks looked different inside.” Benitz first decided she wanted to attend the Air Force Academy when she was fifteen years old.  “I’ve always wanted to be closer to the sky and help my country by doing something I love.” At a young age, Benitz enjoyed spending time with her late mother and watching old TV shows like “I love Lucy” and “The Cosby Show.” Benitz said she’d like to travel in the future. “I don’t see the point in living in the past.”
