The Cougar Den is a student-run store open during all three lunches throughout the week located right next to Kerri Ferate’s room.

The Cougar Den is run by the students of the store operations class and overseen by the year two students in the store management class. The store has an assortment of items from smoothies and chips to Go-Gurts and cookies. This class offers on the job experience and is something for students to put on their resume; It teaches students the basics of economics and basic safety precautions when being around or handling food items.

The earlier periods of the day such as one, two, and three prepare the Cougar Den for the later periods by getting out necessary items and baking the cookies. The fourth period students are the ones that run the store throughout the three lunches and the later classes make sure everything is restocked clean and tidy for the next day, they also count the total profits and make sure there is no money missing from the store.

“Cookies and smoothies are the most popular items among students from the cougar den,” said Ferate.

Ferate also said her personal favorite item is, “coffee” then went on to say she doesn’t buy anything from the Cougar Den because, “It’s too tempting if I start I might get hooked on it”.

The Cougar Den once again is open five days a week during all three lunches located in room 1022 in the commons.
