Kitsap Youth Rally

Kitsap Youth Rally

The annual Kitsap Youth Rights Rally is held every year at the end of March. It is an opportunity for interested students to network with other like-minded individuals and learn more about the issues impacting us today. It also seeks to help to inspire students to become active in their communities to combat the inequalities in society.

At the event, students attend two workshops or “breakout sessions” out of a list of over a dozen. In these workshops, students are given presentations on various issues and topics. These are researched, created, and presented by students from various student organizations from around Kitsap County, such as school GSAs and suicide prevention organizations.

After these workshops, students are treated to a lunch and are given the opportunity to participate in an open mic, as well as to network with various organizations specializing in contemporary issues from around the county, such as The Q Center (a local LGBT rights organization) and even the Kitsap Regional Library.

This event is a good chance for students who are concerned about modern world issues to meet other students with similar ideals and to get together to get organized for change. Students from CK who are interested in attending next year’s Youth Rights Rally should contact teacher Wendy Kassler for more information.
