Cougs Strike Hard
Girls Varsity crushed Foss with a stunning score of 8-0. When asked if the team would make it to playoffs, Coach Vicky Webb said, “I am certain we will make the playoffs, and I expect us to go further to win state. My girls have the potential to get there. Tonight was not one of our best games but we will make it to state.”
Goals were made by by Olivia Krog in the 17th, 56th minute, Michaela Wallitner in the 26th minute, Lauren Hudson in the 30th minute, Melissa Johnson in the 47th, 53rd minute and Taylor Mohs in the 49th minute.
The team’s play was outstanding, leaving the opponent scoreless throughout the whole game due to their solid defense. The possession throughout the midfield and attacking third was brilliant, leading the girls to a 8-0 victory with over half the goals scored off of set pieces.
Webb said,“So far the team is working together strong. Our defense and offense are both doing their jobs extremely well. Also our coaching staff is a big help to our team.”
Webb said the team has potential. “I would say yeah, we have it all. And I can’t wait to continue the season with the lady Cougs.”
Abby Schwieterman said the season is going well. “I think we have a shot at becoming district or even 3A state champs.”
Schwieterman talked about the key factors to this 8-0 win. “The way we move the ball around together and how we play so well together as well. This wasn’t one of our most competitive games, but it showed how well us girls can work as a team.”
She said she’s “been playing soccer since she was eight-years-old.” Her favorite player is Alex Morgan, because “she’s inspired me in so many ways.”
