CK Victorious at Homecoming Game
The CK Cougars played at home against Capital on Friday, October 2nd, the night before Homecoming. With the crowd in high spirits, CK scored a touchdown right at kickoff, leading the Cougs into what panned out to be a great game. When asked if he was confident CK would win, Matthew Plyler, team manager, responded, “Of course! We’ve had a good practice week, and our boys are in tune and ready to go. This is the second time we’ve played against Capital. They were pretty good last year, but this year CK is definitely better.” When out on the field, the players focus mainly on carrying out what the coaches told them to do, watch out for their fellow team members, and keep all eyes on the ball.
Who else helps keep the team in order? When you watch a game, it is typical to see a few students running around on the field, caring for the players and making sure they stay hydrated. The sports med ladies take good care of the players. “Our main job is making sure the players get enough water, and going out onto the field if someone gets injured and helping them,” says Casey Cobb, a sports med student. “We go to every game. I love it!” All the sports med students were confident that the Cougs would win, and they did!
At halftime, with CK in the lead, the Homecoming court paraded down the track in golf carts, throwing candy into the cheering crowd of CK Students. After halftime, the team led Central Kitsap into a winning game of 31-20, making it their third win of the season. Go Cougs!
