Kaleb Bates drove on Foss’ in an attempt to gain ground for the score

Winter sports are coming to a close. Our Cougars trained and fought hard to accomplish team goals and individual goals. The boys’ basketball team has battled their schedule with their heads up, but right now are behind with a (6-7) record; they still have 7 games left .

“Our team has talent and we leave it all out on the court, plus we are a fun team to watch. We can make it to the playoffs,” said junior DeAndre Sincere.

Everyone wants to make play offs, but to get there, everyone has to accomplish their own goals, get more rebounds, play more aggressive defense, get more free throw points, hit more 3’s in crucial moments, or drive harder for a layup. With more games, there comes opportunity. They are always looking to get better and still have a chance to make it in the playoffs.

Girls’ basketball has persevered through out this season with wins against Bremerton, Kingston, Olympic, and Capital. The girls have a decent record so far of (9-4). They are also looking forward to their next 7 games that they have left, and they want every one of them.

Wrestlers have left it all on the mat so far this year, giving the sport their all. They head to their next invitation, End of Days, where many other schools will be attending to claim the first place title at the 2016 tournament. There are going to be some wrestlers cutting weight to be in their weight class. Wrestling is a very team-oriented sport despite the fact that the athletes wrestle one-on-one. They have supported each other every day for the last two months. pushing each other, to get stronger, move faster, and think quicker.

“As a first time wrestler, I quickly felt like part of the family. Everyone pushed me to get better all round. I can’t wait for next year so that I can come back to wrestle with them all again,” said Amber Andrada.

Out rolling the competition, girls bowling has steamrolled their way to a (15-1) overall record and a conference record of (13-1) falling just short of Wilson. At the beginning of the season our cougars fell to Wilson in a match (5-2), but at the  end of the season they won against Wilson in a match (5-2). The ladies went to state and placed 6th this is an improvement from last year when they placed 7th.

“Bowling takes a lot of technique and practice to get it down,” shared Sapphire Owens.
