The Klahowya boys lacrosse team warmed up just before practice began.

Klahowya and CK share a lacrosse team, which has been hit hard this year by the loss of student players. A memorial was held for all of the following players, Bailey Kallio born: July 18, 1998  passed: August 3, 2015, who played freshman and sophomore year, Gian King born: June 2, 1997 passed: November 8, 2015, who played senior year and Lucas Weaver born:November 25, 1997 passed: February 15, 2016, who played freshman, sophomore and junior year. All three of these students will be missed dearly and will always be loved.

Lacrosse runs from March to May, and captains’ practices start at the end of January. These practices are mostly meant to get somewhat conditioned before the actual season starts and to pick up the sticks so players don’t lose all of their skills. Practice runs from 3:30 p.m to 5:00 p.m Mondays, Wednesday and Friday.

“Lacrosse is a really great time to have some fun and hang out with friends, I’ve played for six years now and I’ve always loved it. I plan to continue playing on through high school,” said sophomore Ben Maxwell.

Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports. There are world wide teams and they all play each other to eventually end up in the championship game. It’s like football with playoffs and the Super Bowl, except this is worldwide. The number of players for the 2016 season is roughly around 750,000 players across the U.S.
