Fall and Spring athletes at the fall college signing.

With many Cougar athletes being given awards by their teams, and getting scholarships to continue playing sports into college, it is hard to talk about just one. They all should be congratulated on their effort in sports, how far they have come since their freshman years and, being invited to study and play for big universities. A few standouts are:

Girl’s Soccer players Melissa Johnson and Michaela Wallitner, with an exceptional regular season record of (15-0-1), were awarded scholarships to colleges. Johnson was accepted into the University of Redlands and Wallitner was accepted to Central Washington University.

Football’s Kendall Yaegle received the school award “Cougar of the Year” as well as receiving a scholarship to Central Washington University.

Volleyball player  Kjresten Hilers received a scholarship to Dixie State University, with multiple great seasons, she helped end this season with an (16-3) record.

The Boy’s Swim coach Guagliardo has awarded Nicholas Stimac with swimmer of the year for his effort, spirit,  and personality in and out of the water.

Coug Baseball has a lot of talent with five players receiving scholarships to several different colleges. Nolan Wiler was signed to the University of Puget Sound, Griffin McCormick and Akiyoshi Buckson at Bellevue College. Eric Halvorson to Olympic College, and Nick Roberts was signed to the University of Washington. So far the boys have swept the first three games with an (3-0) record.

The Boy’s Soccer Cougars have won their first two games setting up for a great season. Jaeger Skifstad has been signed to Highline College in Des Moines.

Cross Country, and track and field athletes Cameron Carrol and Jason Gordon have both been valuable athletes in both sports for the school, they score high points for both sports and have been doing so for the last couple of years. Both athletes have been offered scholarships to continue running at the next competitive level. Carrol and Gordon have signed with Montana State University.

With such promising athletes and seasons going by, we can only look ahead at the next group and the next stars to emerge to bask in the light. To those that are leaving we wish you luck and hope you finish with your heads held high and will remember the good times you had as cougars.
