West Sound Tech/Olympic College Hair Show

Every year West Sound Tech and Olympic College hosts a hair show to show what each student has to offer in cosmetology and is able to express their  originality and is able to show it off. The day started out with the stylists and models arriving at West Sound Tech to put the makeup, hair, outfit and nails on their models.

“It was a very tedious process,” junior Grace Seabrook, the videographer for the show said. “It was really cool to see what the stylists came up with.”

The hair show was located at Bremerton Auditorium, and many eager and excited people came to see the talent, and creativity endowed in the students. And after eight hours of preparing, the stylists and models piled into their personal vehicles and provided buses and went to the auditorium to be judged and to practice. The models were divided into six categories. New Millennium, Big and Bouncy, Rock n Roll, Hip-Hop, After-Six Formal, and Avant Garde.

Each category had 1st, 2nd and 3rd place along with trophies to be given out to the winners of the categories. The show started at six o’clock on Monday evening. Each model prepared four poses and was able to complete them strikingly in front of the audience. It was a hair show to remember. After months of making decorations, coming up with the playlists, and writing out the MC cards, the show turned out wonderfully.

Our CK students were very involved as well. Junior Latavia McDaniels, a model in the After-Six Formal category, said, “I would do this again anytime. It was so much fun.” Junior Amanda Stewmon, another model involved in the After-Six Formal category, said, “As soon as I got on stage, it was like all of my stage fright went away.” Junior Emma McCarty won first in the Avant Garde category with her model Hannah Burk.

“This year was the best show yet!” Gregory Brassel, a cosmetology instructor said. “Everything this year was so special.”
