What is West Sound Tech and How YOU can get involved this summers

West Sound Tech is a nine district technical school. Students from not only CKSD, but also Bremerton, North Kitsap, North Mason, Peninsula, Quilcene, Bainbridge Island, South Kitsap and Port Townsend districts can attend WST. WST provides advanced career and programming skills preparing students for both college and or career. Students enrolled here are more likely to go straight into the job field as an intern, are able to go universities more easily, or are able go directly to entry level employment after high school.The school offers many courses such as: Advanced 3D Game Design, Automotive Technology, Biomedical Research and Global health, Collision Repair Technology, Construction Careers, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts, Engineering Design Prototype and Production, Professional Medical Careers, Public Safety Occupations, Welding, and Jobs for America’s Graduates. WST offers many opportunities for scholarships and a variety of community service awards.
Every summer, WST hosts Summer School for those who wish to continue exploring their career choices, want extra credit or just need something constructive to do in the summer. This year, WST summer school is hosted in six different locations. The WST Skill Center, Bremerton High School, Fairview Middle School, South Kitsap High School, and Gig Harbor High School. Every course has a summer school option and it is completely free. This year, WST Summer School runs from June 27th-July 14th. It goes from 8:00am-3:30pm. By taking a summer school course, you can earn a .5 (1/2) elective credit or CTE credit. Mrs.Brown, of the career center staff, is the one to talk to about future enrollment in WST.
