Youth Rally Inspires
Something CK is known for is diversity, understanding, and inclusion, which is why it is no surprise that a great number of students attended a youth rally in March at Olympic College. A wide variety of the students attended from Drama club, Gay Straight Alliance (GSA), and Youth Suicide and Bullying Prevention (YSBP). The topic was mostly about the exclusion of LGBTQ students, which has been an issue for a while.
Junior Natalie Geillenfeldt explains the youth rally as “a rally for human rights to get youth together to talk about their rights.” Geilenfeldt says she attended because she’s “passionate about human rights and social changes” and also to “perform The Laramie Project with Drama club.” Brandon Nivens, another junior who attended the youth rally said, “I went to participate in Drama club and because I care about the equality of LGBTQ students.”
About 30 students attended the rally, some not involved in the named clubs, but they are definitely involved in making the world an equal and overall better place.
