Golfers mourn the loss of a great coach
Golf is up and running. It is one of the marvelous sports that CK loves. With the rain that we’ve been having, it’s been hard for the golf team to get out and play, but they are in full swing with the weather clearing up. Golf is going to be great this year with a new coaching staff for the girls since Jeff Swanberg retired last year from being CK’s girls golf coach.
Jeff Swanberg was a coach loved by many, he was diagnosed with ALS in 2015 and battled it for two years. He died on March 27, 2017. He was a Central Kitsap district employee and coach for 25 years and was well known throughout the community. Shop teacher Tyler Hunt stepped up to follow in his footsteps as CK’s new girls Golf coach.
The boys’ coach is English teacher Kevin McCarthy and the boys had their jamboree at Bremerton High School and their first game against Capital. Senior Ben White said, “I like just being out on the course and getting my mind off of everything else and having fun with the guys playing golf.”
The girls had their first game against Capital. Go out and cheer on our golfers.
