Mother’s Day flowers

May 25—Mother’s Day was on Sunday May 13th. This holiday was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and officially became a holiday in 1914. Jarvis didn’t enjoy how commercialized the holiday got and regretted creating the day. The celebrations of mothers go back to the ancient Greek times and it has adapted into a major US holiday.

The Sunday of Mothers day was a beautiful sunny day to enjoy. Some children got their mom flowers and a card, or went out and took a trip somewhere, or took their mom out to dinner at a nice restaurant. Michael Rodriguez, senior, said, “I made my mom breakfast in bed and then we went to Seattle with the whole family”. Rodriguez also got his mother flowers, chocolate, and a card to show his mom how much he appreciated her. Restaurants, museums, and stores had deals on this holiday making the day full of activities for the whole family. Jose Borja Rivera, senior, went out to lunch with his mother and got her a card for the occasion before he had to work for the rest of the day. Rivera tried to make the most of the morning before he had to leave.

This day is not just for your mom it is for your mom’s mom and the women in your life that have been great mothers. The mothers of the world influence and teach younger kids even if they are not blood related, they are step moms, aunts, grandmothers. This day is for all of them. Remember that this holiday is not just about flowers and chocolate, it is about showing appreciation for the women in your life and loving them.
