With the strong smell of chlorine, the sound of water slashing, and the humidity in the air is how the day began and ended on Oct. 6. And for the Central Kitsap High School girls varsity swim team the day also ended with yet another win in their season.

“It is a continuation of what we had last year. We have been climbing this ladder after COVID-19. And we have a lot of the same kids we had last year,” said the team’s Coach, Whitney Dodd before the meet started.

The girls won against the Timberline Girls Varsity Swim Team 131-46 at Olympic Aquatic Center. This rounds out an eight meet undefeated winning streak so far for the season. With Timberline getting disqualified in the 200 individual medley for going vertical during the backstroke to breaststroke turn.

The team getting a repeated first, second, and third place in the majority of the events during this meet shows how they are successfully maintaining their incredible success from the previous year. The team is currently looking good to end the year undefeated a second year in a row.

“We’re still undefeated so far, coming off of an undefeated season from last year, I think us as a team, we are all working together and trying to bring positive energy to our events and practices,” said Leah Howell, a Senior on the team.

Make sure to catch the rest of the meets of the season for Girls Varsity Swim. The next meet is Oct. 18, starting at 3:30 p.m. at Capital High School. Come and support your Central Kitsap High School Girls Varsity Swim Team.

“They don’t want to let us down, if you respect them, they respect you and then they want to work harder for the win and for their team win,” said Dodd.
