The events of week 6 with surprising wins and expected loses.

Detroit Lions vs Kansas City Chiefs

The Detroit Lions fly down to the middle of nowhere to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. Patrick Mahomes remembered to pay the refs this week after their loss to Jacksonville, winning this game 30-17.

After the game, Brian Branch of Detroit ignores Mahomes’ attempt to shake his hand. Kansas City receiver Juju Smith-Schuster sees this and decides to confront Branch. Likely still salty about the loss, Branch punches Smith-Schuster which started a brawl after the game.

I personally am all for trash-talk. Trash-talk should be 100% allowed as long as it doesn’t go beyond the field, but fighting over it should have no place in any sport. Branch should be suspended.

Philadelphia Eagles vs New York Giants

The New York Giants got a big win at home in The Big Apple, taking down the reigning superbowl champions 34-17 at home. Cam Skattebo rushed for an impressive three touchdowns that night with 172 yards. Philadelphia’s offense struggled through the night with two turnovers handed to New York.

Despite the win, Ole Miss alumni Jackson Dart threw for 194 yards and a 17/26 completion ratio, which is not super great, but for a rookie, not bad. I’d say the New York defense won this game for them.

of a newer audience. This game was simply a bad game of football in my opinion, and was not a good representation of American Football for a European audience.

The New York Jets continue to find creative ways to lose. This week, New York threw the ball for a shocking -10 yards. When a quarterback is sacked, that counts against their total yardage.I don’t know what is worse, the fact that Justin Fields only threw for 45 yards or the fact that he was sacked nine times for a loss of 55 yards.

Seattle Seahawks vs Jacksonville Jaguars

The home town heroes go down to Jacksonville Florida to win 20-12. Sam Darnold had a performance that wasn’t bad at all. Jacon Smith-Njigba came to play football with 162 yards and eight receptions. Not only that, but he had a beautiful 61 yard touchdown reception that was just a cherry on top for my little Seattle fan heart.

Los Angeles Chargers vs Miami Dolphins

The Los Angeles Chargers barely scraped by against Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins in sunny Florida. Los Angeles’ kicker, Cameron Dicker sealed the game for his squad with five seconds remaining in the game. Miami hoped for a miracle but instead, the six-year Miami Quarterback threw his 3rd interception of the game, giving the win to Los Angeles.

Los Angeles Rams vs Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens lose to Matthew Stafford and the LA Rams 17-3. Lamar Jackson sat out of this one with a hamstring injury which likely explains how Baltimore can’t seem to function without their franchise QB. All Matthew Stafford had to do was not suck terribly and sure enough, he got the win

New England Patriots vs New Orleans Saints

Sophomore Quarterback Drake Maye and the New England Patriots took down the New Orleans Saints after an average performance. New England has been on a roll beating Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills just a few weeks prior and with this win today, they now continue their three game streak and move their record of 4-2.

Arizona Cardinals vs Indianapolis Colts

under center against Daniel Jones and the Indianapolis Colts. Jones threw 22/30 that day, continuing to show his post-Giants skills and coming out with the win, 31-27. Jonathan Taylor sealed the game for Indianapolis with a late game touchdown run to seal the game.

Jones may prove to be the second example of the “Post Giants Boom.” Barkley had a Super Bowl winning season with Philadelphia as soon as he left New York, while Jones is proving to be a decent QB after his terrible years in New York.

Dallas Cowboys vs Carolina Panthers

The Dallas Cowboys took a surprising loss against Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers. Rico Dowell showed his skill this game with 183 total rushing yards with an average of 6.1 yards per attempt. The game came down to the line, but with a late game-winning kick from Florida State’s Ryan Fitzgerald, Carolina added a win to their now 3-3 record.

Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Oregon rookie Dillon Gabriel and the Cleveland Browns fall 23-9 against their division rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers on their home turf. This would be the 22nd time, consecutively, that Cleveland has lost to Pittsburgh while playing in the Pittsburgh stadium.

Gabriel threw the ball 52 times, only completing a shocking 29 of those 52. It’s early in the season, but with a rookie performing like that, it’s not looking great for the Ohio based club.

San Francisco 49ers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The San Francisco 49ers take on Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay put on a show against the stand-in, QB Mac Jones, winning this game 30-19. I’m not entirely surprised that Tampa Bay won this game.

That’s what happens when half of the San Francisco team is on the Injury Reserve list and can’t play. Despite the loss, Mac Jones did pretty well throwing for a total of 347 yards. Right now, he holds the title for the most average yards per game.

Tennessee Titans vs Los Vegas Raiders

Cam Ward and The Tennessee Titans fly out to the deserts of Nevada to lose to the Los Vegas Raiders 20-10 in their semi-new, way overpriced stadium. Former Seahawk Geno Smith played a decent game with a 17/23 completion ratio. While rookie Cam Ward also played a decent game at 26/38. This game was simply a game, nothing to really write home about.

Cincinnati Bengals vs Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers host a game against Joe and the Cincinnati Bengals. But not Joe Burrow, Joe Flacco stands in after being traded from the Cleveland Browns. Flacco went from one losing team to another, just to lose some more at 27-18. This year, the quarterback room for Cincinnati looks mediocre.

Yes, both quarterbacks are technically veterans now. The numbers say they are just your average Joes.

Buffalo Bills vs Atlanta Falcons

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills head down to Atlanta Georgia to take on University of Washington alum, Michael Penix Jr. and the Atlanta Falcons. Penix Jr. had a decent game throwing 20/32 completion and 250 yards while his man in the backfield, Bijan Robinson, had a great game rushing 170 yards with 19 carries. Robinson contributed the most to the win over Buffalo, guiding Atlanta to a 24-14 win.

Chicago Bears vs Washington Commanders

2022 Heisman Celeb Williams took a trip to Landover Maryland to take on 2023 Heisman winner Jayden Daniels. This game was evenly split down the middle between the two collegiate MVPs with the game coming down to a final kick from Chicago’s Jake Moody to win the game 25-24, Chicago. This could be payback for the last time these two met when Chicago lost to a game winning hail mary.
