New change to graduation requirements!!!
A new requirement is being added by the school board of education starting in 2020 for the upcoming freshmen class. The 24 credits required are a new obligation created by the state of Washington and intended to help kids open up to more options in the future and help with their creativity. This would help kids get a better job when asked what languages were taken in high school or how many years were taken of a certain subject.
“The addition of four more credits would be putting a lot more stress on the upcoming freshman,“ said Principal Steve Coons. The addition of the four credits consists of two World Language credits, another art credit for a total of two credits, and an extra science credit for a total of three credits.
Also with the change of requirements for graduation for the upcoming freshman there is going to be a change in start times for school (still in works of creating a schedule).
The extra credits needed for math and science for students applying for specific jobs according to the school board of education. The school board decided that 24 credits would be “rigorous and flexible to help students ready for a new life,” said Superintendent Chris Reykdal.
