Freshman Tyler Nolasco is having fun riding the waves.

Come sail away your fears and stress with the sailing team! This is a sport that is fun and easy to learn. Sailing starts in late February and ends in June. The CKHS team meets after school four days a week at the Waterfront Park to practice for their regatta. Regatta Is the official term for a sailing competition. Our team competes every weekend in these fun competitions against other schools.

The team may work hard but they have fun with every wave. Sophomore Rebekah Arvila said, “Sailing is an amazing feeling; you are being carried by a force that you cannot even see…Sailing has helped me so much in improving my confidence and leadership skills as well.”

Not a good sailor? No worries! The sailing club has your back. The club continues to run after the official season of the sailing team ends. The club is purely for recreational purposes with good sailors teaching the new ones how to ride the waves.

The Sailing  team relaxes together in the Olympia Yacht Club after an exhausting day on the water.

Freshman Tyler Nolasco said, “Sailing is, in my opinion, one of the funnest things available to do at the school, at least when it is sunny. I would suggest trying out club sailing towards the end of the year, around late May early June, and see if it is fun… We’d be happy to have you.”
