In today’s society, personal privacy is quite a concern. Some problems involve things such as medical records, children’s educational and personal records, that are often shared with government agencies and other companies without parental consent. That includes information that parents would not normally be okay with sharing.

According to freshman Allen Squier, “My mother would be very pissed to find out something like that was happening behind her back, to her child; she takes my security very seriously for some reason but I agree I don’t want anything personal leaving the school without my parent’s or my consent.”

Privacy literally means the state or condition of being free from being observed or disturbed by other people. Squier stated, “Privacy means that I can be sure that I am not being monitored by the government secretly, and that people that I don’t know won’t have my information.”

As the world heads forward and more and more information is on the internet, it has become much easier to access people’s personal information, since most people have moved to online forms of communication such as emails, Facebook, and other forms of media on the internet. According to internetworldstats.com the growth in North America for the amount of internet users has grown up to 196.1% from 2000 to 2017.  The world total of current internet users is 3,731,973,423. People are bound to experience privacy leaks since there are many different characters behind a keyboard, some of whom could be hackers.
