On Nov. 29, the Central Kitsap boys basketball team won their first home game against their notorious rival, Olympic High School. The final score came out to 63-46 Central Kitsap.

Despite senior forward Aleo Toves getting the first scoring shot, Central Kitsap had a rocky start to the game.

“The first half, we were dead, and we weren’t talking, and shots just weren’t falling,” senior Forward Liam Bieber said.

While the game wasn’t high scoring in the first half, Central Kitsap fought vigorously to keep the score even going into the third quarter. When the second half of the game kicked off, Central Kitsap came out on a scoring streak, earning more than 40 collective points over the third and fourth quarter. 

“We knew how high the expectation was for us coming out this game,” junior Forward Xavier Anderson said. “We don’t play for the people in the stands, we play for the people on our left and on our right on the court with us.” 

The game ended up being more one sided towards the end of the game, with Central Kitsap winning by 15 points during the fourth quarter. Although Central Kitsap was on the comfortable side near the end, Olympic fought hard to shorten the point differential for the remainder of the quarter to no avail.

“Those guys have been putting in a lot of work, and they understand that nothing is easy, so I’m just excited to see them take one step at a time and continue to climb that mountain,” varsity head coach Larry Williams said.
