On Tuesday, January 20, Central Kitsap High School Boy’s Basketball varsity team played agasint Peninsula High School, resulting in a final score of 72 – 57 Central Kitsap.
Last year, the boy’s varsity team struggled with their games, totaling more losses than wins, especially against the Peninsula Seahawks.

“Last year, the team [Peninsula] beat us by 20,” Central Kitsap’s Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Larry Williams said. “So to come out and win… it’s just a step in the right direction for the program.”
By halftime, the score is 30 – 23 Central Kitsap with both teams staying evenly matched throughout the fitst half. The Central Kitsap’s varsity team had game plans involving singling out specific Peninsula players in order to achieve a win.
“[The gameplan was to] just stop the big man and number 2 on that team,” Point Guard Larry Williams III said. “As long as they didn’t get shots at too many points, the game would have been successful, just like how it was [during the game].”
With this win, the boy’s varsity basketball team will have a better chance to participate in post season games as they continue to climb the ranks with their wins.
“[This win is] just another step closer to playoffs,” Williams III said. “We are taking one day at a time, one game at a time.”
