Cheer Captains
Delaney Bartlett is one of three captains on the 2015-2016 Central Kitsap High School varsity cheer team. She has been on the team for three consecutive years, following her previous five years of cheering. Since this is her last, and senior, year of cheer, she has taken on the position of co-captain along with two other seniors, Athena Nidoy and Ashley Dykstra.
Bartlett’s responsibilities as captain include leading practices and workouts, designing and ordering team t-shirts and bows, and leading the team at football games.
Her cheering days began when her mom made a peewee team when Bartlett was just four years old. Her mother had cheered in high school and college and wanted her to follow in her footsteps.
Bartlett says she has continued her cheering career because, “despite the hard workouts, stressful practices, and long nights at football games, it always brings me so much happiness and joy in the end. I love my cheer family and wouldn’t give them up for anything.” She also hopes she’s making her mom proud as she becomes more and more of the “girly girl” her mother always wanted her to be.
