NHS inductees are honored.

The National Honor Society Induction ceremony on March 5th was a huge success.  All sophomores who had been participating in NHS over the year were finally inducted into the society.  It is a huge honor for those admitted to it and it requires a sacrifice of dedication and contribution to the community and school.

NHS is a group of scholarly students who branch out to their community with passionate volunteer work.  In order to partake in NHS, you must have a 3.5 GPA, five group hours and fifteen individual volunteer hours.  National Honor Society provides numerous advantages including polishing the college application and gratification for community service.  It provides the members with a huge amount of community service opportunities.

Senior Brennan Dour said, “This year is definitely one to remember, the amount of service opportunities and the new members is positively overwhelming.”  Counselor Michelle Sotelo is the current adviser of NHS,  leading the club and helping the members towards their goals.

Madison Largey is the president of the National Honor Society and ran the Induction Ceremony.  It started off with various speeches from the officers each talking about how they feel about Honor Society and the new inductees.  Then followed a speech by our building principal Stephen Coons.  After that, Largey called each inductee up to the stage one at a time awarding them and had them shake hands with each officer.  Thirty-seven people were inducted into NHS which is an extraordinary amount of new members.  It shows how excelled our school is and supports our motto of “dedicated to excellence.”

Considering the Honor Society this year has been such a huge success, everyone hopes to see just as much or even more new members next year.  The size of this year’s group has increased by at least forty people compared to that of last year’s.  They are expecting that to double by the time next year comes around, until then they will be focusing on community and volunteer work.
